I have recently been reading a book called Success through a positive mental attitude. One of the chapter’s is about “Something More”. What exactly is something more? It is the notion that to achieve what you really want you have to add the something more. One of the examples is of a man that takes other peoples inventions, that don’t work, and tries to add the something more to make it work. In doing so he found the missing ingredient and took a project that was unsuccessful and turned it into a useful and profitable invention.
I was stuck with this thought as very inspiring. That to get what I want, or to achieve what I want I just need to push myself to give something more than I normally do, or more than my competition. In the gym there are times when something more is what is needed. To push past a plateau, gain that extra pound of muscle, lose that extra inch. The person just needed an extra 20 minutes on the cardio equipment each day, pushed an extra 2 reps on each exercise or made it to the gym one more time a week. Sometimes all it takes is just a little. Sometimes it takes a lot. However it always takes something more.
